I have a question about widget annotations with appearance streams. Acrobat Reader (Version 9.4.5) does not render the appearance stream. But in the thumbnail shown in windows explorer the annotation is rendered as expected. Is there different behaviour when a PDF document is shown with Acrobat reader / shown as a thumbnail?
The following test document contains a blue rect drawn onto the page and an annotation with an appearance stream rendering a red rectangle covering the blue rect. In Acrobat reader the blue rect is shown. In the explorer thumbnail the red annotation rectangle is visible.
