When I use Word 2007 or Thumbsplus to generate a PDF document I get quotes around the string of keywords. This happens whether I use Scansoft PDF, Acrobat distiller or Word's save as PDF. For example, using Word's document properties keyword field, I have june; 2010; family when I look at the keyword metadata in the resultant PDF document in Acrobat, the keyword list is "june; 2010; family". This happens when I substitute commas for the semicolons or eliminate the spaces (still leave the semi-colons or commas). The only time the quotes do not appear is when there is no punctuation between words; e.g., june 2010 family. It appears that with the quote deliniation, I cannot do a keyword search (IPTC field) on those keywords. If I delete the quote marks in the PDF document IPTC keyword field, then I can search on the keywords. Using Windows 7 but same things has happened on XP.
What causes the quotes to be generated when creating a PDF document and how can it be prevented?
